Deadlines
Presentation proposals deadline passed
Poster proposals due April 15th, 2009
Conference dates June 21st-24th, 2009
Please note the following important announcements about the call for proposals:
- Please fill out your proposal in a word document, prior to submitting it online. There is no way to save your work if you need to stop in the middle of submitting your online proposal.
- We are primarily looking for presentations on projects/policies which have been successfully implemented on a college or university campus in California and which other campuses are likely to be able to adopt a similar program/policy after hearing your presentation.
- Presenters should ideally be the person/people who directly created and/or implemented the project/policy being presented.
- All presentations will be 15-20min long.
- Presentations will be grouped together with similar projects into a session by our track committees, who will be selecting the speakers and presentations. If you would like to speak in the same session with another project/presenter, both projects/presenters must submit a proposal separately. We will not give more than 15-20min per project.
- One speaker per project will receive a discounted registration fee to attend the conference. You may have additional co-speakers, however only one will receive the discount. All speakers are expected to register for the conference and must pay their discounted registration fee, housing, and travel. Speakers must register and pay their discounted fee even if they only attend the session they are speaking in.
- Poster presentations are not due until April 15th, 2009, you may submit using the presentation proposal form, if you want to submit now. The poster submittal form will be released shortly and will be a shorter version of the presentation proposal form.
Presentations by industry and non-profit leaders:
- There is a New Opportunity for sponsorship this year, where Gold and Platinum level sponsors may host a one hour long interactive tour or workshop midday on Monday or Tuesday, the main days of the conference. Please contact Katie Maynard kmaynard@geog.ucsb.edu 805-893-2003 for more details.
- This year, we are requiring anyone who is not from a campus or university, to co-submit with an individual from a campus who is actively involved in the project that you are submitting on.
- Any proposals that are perceived to be sales pitches or making an argument for one company, program, organization, or certification system will not be accepted. This is especially true if you are from the company, organization or program that you are lobbying for.
