Not a Recession, A Green Transition
Case Studies Toward Zero Net Energy (ZNE) Building
June 24, 2009
Overview
The BeyondFire workshop will discuss how the real emergency is not the immediate economic crisis, but that society must redefine the perception of environmental and social responsibility while re-learning to measure value.
The BeyondFire argument is that, at this point, dollars represent an incomplete representation of value; thus, it makes sense to change dollars into clean energy systems, which will stabilize costs and risks while moving your building into a better world. Zero-net energy (ZNE) buildings are an inevitable conclusion when the holistic measurement of value is taken into account for the energy aspect of the built environment.
The BeyondFire workshop will showcase real world examples of moving towards zero-net energy from UCSB, Southern California Edison, UCSF, and Genentech. In addition, there will be a facilitated audience discussion where you can share your ideas. We look forward to having you join the movement.
