The UC Institute for Research in the Arts, UCIRA, is the only multi-campus program dedicated to supporting arts research and practice throughout the UC system. The Institute's offices are located at the UC Santa Barbara Interdisciplinary Humanities Center on the 6th floor of the Humanities and Social Sciences Building. When UCIRA moved to UCSB in 2005, the Directors commissioned artist and recent UCSB MFA Jesse Wilson to create a space to house the Institute. Using recycled materials and leftovers from a prior commission at the Santa Barbara Museum of Art, Jesse created a beautiful, affordable, mobile, and (most importantly) eco-friendly space.
