Accessibility Goals
- Create an event that is accessible to all possible participants without regard to gender, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, ability, class, religion, or spirituality.
- Open up a dialogue between planners, staff, volunteers, sponsors/exhibitors, and participants to address specific needs.
- Select an event location with adequate accessibility points for disabled participants and make necessary modifications.
- Create an “accessibility map” of conference locations for participants.
- Make sure that all conference materials are accessible to disabled participants.
- Supply ASL/CART interpreters for deaf/hard of hearing participants if requested.
- Provide referrals to child care facilities.
- Provide mothers with access to bathrooms equipped with changing tables and a place to feed their children.
- Offer transportation and referrals to transportation services that are accessible to disabled participants.
- Acknowledge the financial limitations of participants, keep registration fees as low as possible, and establish a scholarship system for those who are unable to meet the costs of registration.
We need your help in meeting the above goals. We can only commit to providing services based on requests that we receive from applicants in a timely manner prior to the conference.
Scholarship funding is limited and we do realize that we may not be able to meet the need of all scholarship requests.
