Using LEED-CI to Green Campus Renovation Projects
This is an advanced level workshop that goes beyond the Technical Review of LEED-CI and delves deeper into how to accomplish some of the intents of the credit requirements and to go beyond them. We spend 90% of our time indoors and more than a third of the day at work. It just makes good common sense to have energy and water efficient interiors that also promote well-being, are better for the environment, and are easier to operate and maintain.

The Student Convergence will be an opportunity for students from all
campuses to come together, meet each other, share best practices, and
learn about opportunities for state-wide organizing. There will be
space set aside during the day for UC, CSU, and CCC campuses to split
into break-out groups with students from their own systems as well as
some opportunities to bring all three groups together.

BeyondFire "Sustainable Utility Nodes" (SUN) Post Conference Workshop

UCSB’s Donald Bren School of Environmental Science & Management
Too long have we burned fuels for our community’s energy needs. We currently rely on hunting and gathering dwindling and volatile fossil fuels to provide the power we need for supporting our societies progress. The external costs of this system are too high. We envision a world of buildings as distributed energy generation nodes that harvest electricity and power without the side effects of pollution, security threats, and price volatility. Each building can form an individual SUN and function within the grid infrastructure already built. With innovative financing and a dedicated mission renewable energy can help all our communities progress into a sustained future of health, safety, and prosperity. Fossil fuels have long caused combustion in both energy and politics and it is time to move beyond this harmful addiction, BeyondFire.
