UCSB On-Campus Residence Halls
We are pleased to invite Sustainability Conference attendees to reside on the seaside campus of UCSB. On-campus accommodations will be available on a first come, first served basis; therefore, early registrations and reservations are essential. Accommodations will be provided in Manzanita Village Residence Hall (for further descriptions and photos of the Residence Hall, please visit the Manzanita Village informational page.
Manzanita Village
Manzanita Village is the newest residence facility at UCSB and has the following features:
- A complex of 17 three- and four-story residences with 5 to 10 rooms per floor.
- Complex is surrounded by vernal pools and is working toward LEED certification.
- Rooms that open onto a main hallway with single-gender bathrooms nearby (appx. 1 bathroom per 4 residents)
- Rooms are furnished with one or two single beds, desks, desk chair, small chest of drawers and a closet. (Rooms do not have telephones, televisions, radios or clocks.)
- Fresh towels and light cleaning service are provided daily; beds are made up with one set of linen for the duration of your stay.
- A building lounge with a television for guest use.
- Laundry washer/dryer facilities (Machines accept only a special card available in the main reception desk area.)
- NO SMOKING is allowed in, or within 20 feet of, any University building (per UCSB policy)
- We cannot provide "wake-up service;" therefore, you may wish to bring an alarm clock for your convenience.
- There are NO PHONES in individual rooms. Residence Halls have lobby phones for local and credit/calling card calls. Our staff will also post phone messages on the Message Board located in the lobby of the hall. The Manzanita Village desk number is (805)893-6161 if you would like to give out a phone number where messages can be left for you.
UCSB Residence Halls and Dining Facilities are located within a 10 to 15 minute walk from the session meeting rooms and from the beach. Residence Hall accommodations are either single or double occupancy. Lodging includes beds made on arrival day and daily light cleaning service with washcloth and towel change. Unfortunately, there is no housing on campus for those with children; we recommend a hotel if you will be traveling with children (for information about hotels, see the Santa Barbara Conference and Visitors Bureau at www.santabarbaraca.com for additional local hotel listings).
Hotels
The conference will reserve rooms at several hotels locally to ensure inexpensive rates; though prices will change from year to year, you can visit last year's website to see the locally available hotels.
Student and Low Income Housing
Students can have free housing on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday night as part of their reduced registration fee. This will be on-campus housing in residence halls. If you are a student and need housing on Saturday or are a non-student interested in lower cost housing, please email us at turningthetide@geog.ucsb.edu and we will do our best to connect you with local community members willing to open their homes.
