TGIF provided matching funds that enabled the University to take advantage of grants from CA Public Utilities Commission, Southern California Edison, Southern California Gas Company, and Public Interest Energy Research. The total suite of energy projects has a price tag of $3,641,766.

Projects include the following:

  • Upgrading light fixtures in nearly one million sq ft of building space
  • Installing position dimming light fixtures in 150 stairwells
  • Install low pressure drop, long life filters in 28 air handling units
  • Replace V-belt drive fans with high efficiency direct drive fans
  • Extensive monitoring-based commissioning projects on Engineering II, MSRB, and LSB.

Annual Savings:

  • $735,000
  • 5,000,000 kWh
  • 92,000 therms
  • 3,193 metric tons CO2e
  • 24 tons S0x, 16 tons N0x

Repayment of the TGIF loan will begin at the start of FY 2010-2011 and continue over the following 3 to 5 years.
