TGIF: The Green Initiative Fund

The Green Initiative Fund (TGIF) was the first green fee in the UC system created by students in the spring of 2006 with a charge to “reduce the University's impact on the environment.” Students voted with an overwhelming majority to pay $2.60 per quarter, contributing approximately $182,000 a year towards TGIF.

Any student, staff, or faculty member of the University community can submit a project proposal to the TGIF Grants Making Committee. The committee is comprised of four undergraduates, two graduates, one staff, and one faculty member.

2008-2009 Funding Cycle

The Committee will begin soliciting proposals in the fall 2008. At that time, download the Funding Application and the Greenhouse Gas Reduction spreadsheet. Finished applications should be emailed to Jill Richardson. If you have any questions, contact Jill Richardson (893-8367) for more information.
