UC Carbon Neutrality Initiative Ambassador

Hi I’m Mariah, a fourth year Environmental Studies major at UCSB. This year, I am lucky to have the role of UC Climate Neutrality Initiative Ambassador, through which I will be helping with outreach to students and faculty around campus in regards to sustainability. I hope to make living more sustainably an accessible goal for more students on our campus. I’m particularly excited about looking into measures that will help decrease our campus's transportation carbon footprint. Examples of this include organizing community bike ride events and setting up carpool matchmaking sessions for faculty and staff. I also look forward to helping with the annual Residence Hall Energy Use Competition and, more broadly, getting community members involved in on-campus and local policy making decisions. I’m so grateful to have this position during my last year at UCSB, where I can be a part of a campus community that aims to reach net-zero emissions so soon.
