Katie Maynard is the Director of Student Sustainability Initiatives at University of California, Santa Barbara and a Sustainability Officer 4. Ms.Maynard is responsible for supporting UCSB Sustainability Programs and Initiatives through consultation with the Chancellor's Campus Sustainability Committee (CSC), while directing student-led sustainability efforts. This includes coordinating fundraising through Student Affairs Grants and Development, applying for grants, grant management, development and stewardship of strategic partnerships, provides program development and program management of multi-departmental and multi-disciplinary priority initiatives, assists with strategic planning on campus sustainability, partners with the academic community to assist in integrating sustainability into the curriculum and provide learning opportunities for students, tracking and reporting on sustainability metrics for the campus, strategic communications and marketing, and providing consultation to campus administration, staff, faculty, and students on sustainability issues. Management duties include supervising both professional and student staff. Responsible for the oversight of department budgets totalling $200,000, including resource and financial tracking of campus contract and grant funding related to campus sustainability projects totalling in excess of $4M. Acts as a campus point of contact for select sustainability initiatives and programs. Helps coordinate and ensures compliance with University of California (UC) and Presidential initiatives. She was awarded the UC Sustainability Champion Award in July 2019. She is also Principal Investigator for a REACH 2.0 Electric Vehicle Charging Program Grant and the USDA CalFresh Outreach Grant.
